The big and bold Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011 made its debut today at the New York Auto Show. To be honest, this tire-melting and Hemi-powered SUV seemed a little out of place in a show dominated by small cars and boasts about fuel-efficient engineering. It’s not going to save the earth, but theJeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011does have plenty of guilty pleasures under its blocky body.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011 is sports a more aggressive front and rear fascia—to differentiate itself from less powerful models—and an intimidating pair of 4-in. tailpipes. Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011 try as we might, there was no coercing a Jeep rep to crank the engine so we could hear those monster pipes in action.
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011 a larger grille, redesigned foglights and bigger front air intakes give the SRT8 extra attitude—even though the journalists at the New York show seemed especially enamored by the functional hood vents. Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011 Flared wheel arches and 20-in. alloy wheels round out the exterior modifications. Inside, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011 has heavily bolstered leather and suede sport seats, carbon-fiber trim on the instrument and door panels, and paddle shifters on the steering wheel.Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011 the 420-bhp 6.1-liter V-8 is gone, replaced by a larger and more powerful 465-bhp 6.4-liter Hemi V-8. There is permanent in Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011 4-wheel drive (Quadra-Trac, in Jeep speak), a 5-speed automatic, and a tow rating of 5000 lb. If you’re really in a hurry while trailering those jet skis, Jeep says the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011 pulls 0.90g on the skidpad. What’s more, Jeep says the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011is the “best handling Jeep ever.”
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011 stability control, an electronic limited-slip differential and adaptive damping (managed by the Selec-Trac system) should give the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011 the road manners to match its prodigious straight-line performance. And believe us; Jeep was more than happy to let journalists know the performance specs of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2011. Clearly, the “best performing” Jeep ever built means it’s also the fastest. The sprint to 60 mph takes only 4.8 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph. And the quarter mile is dispatched in the mid-13s, according to Jeep. Massive 6-piston Brembo calipers (front) haul the SRT8 from down from 60 mph in only 116 ft. About the only figure Jeep didn’t provide us with was the price. We’ll find that out when the new 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 goes on sale in the fall

A sport utility vehicle (SUV) is a generic marketing term for a vehicle similar to a station wagon, but built on a light-truck chassis. It is usually equipped with four-wheel drive for on- or off-road ability, and with some pretension or ability to be used as an off-road vehicle. Not all Four wheel drive vehicles are termed as SUV.
Some SUVs include the towing capacity of a pickup truck with the passenger-carrying space of a minivan or large sedan. Since SUVs are considered light trucks and often share the same platform with pick-up trucks, they are regulated less strictly than passenger cars under the two laws in the United States, the Energy Policy and Conservation Act for fuel economy, and the Clean Air Act for emissions. The term is not used in all countries, and outside North America the terms "off-road vehicle", "four-wheel drive" or "four-by-four" (abbreviated to "4WD" or "4x4") or simply use of the brand name to describe the vehicle like "Jeep" or "Land Rover" are more common. However, not all SUVs have four-wheel drive capabilities. Conversely, not all four-wheel-drive passenger vehicles are SUVs. Off-road vehicle is a broad class of vehicles, built primarily for off-road use. However, this distinction is often not made by the general public and the media.
Although some SUVs have off-road capabilities, they often play only a secondary role, and SUVs often do not have the ability to switch among two-wheel and four-wheel-drive high gearing and four-wheel-drive low gearing. While auto makers tout an SUV's off-road prowess with advertising and naming, the daily use of SUVs is largely on paved roads and in urban areas.Extremely popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the SUV's popularity has since declined due to high oil prices and a declining economy. The traditional truck-based SUV is gradually being supplanted by the crossover SUV, which uses an automobile platform for lighter weight and better fuel efficiency, as a response to much of the criticism of sport utility vehicles.
Although designs vary, SUVs have historically been mid-size passenger vehicles with a body-on-frame chassis similar to that found on light trucks. Early SUVs were mostly two door models, and were available with removable tops. However, with market and regulatory forces pushing the SUV market towards four doors, by 1999 all full-size two doorSUVs were gone from the market. As of 2011, only the Jeep Wrangler remains as a two door SUV, although Jeep also offers a four door variant. Since the mid 90s, the two door SUV market was cannabalized by the four door SUV.
The MG ZR is a compact automobile first introduced in 2001 by the MG Rover Group. It is specifically a hot hatch, a badge-engineered Rover 25, with a number of useful suspension modifications and design features to appeal to younger drivers. From 2003 a van version, called the MG Express was also offered. All MG ZRs came with a choice of bright metallic shades and can even be factory specified with "flip" paint, which changes colour depending on the direction from which it is viewed.
They feature multiple spoke oversize alloy wheels on low profile tyres, a body kit, race-style spoiler and chrome exhaust garnishes as well as side skirts, all as standard. The purposeful appearance of the new MG ZRis complemented by a new front design, dominated by a bold new grille, its surround painted to match the body colour and incorporating bright finish mesh, finished with the traditional MG octagon badge. The MG ZR is a particularly attractive "hot hatch", built in 3- and 5-door body styles and available in a variety of engines and trim levels, to cater for market needs. Involving performance is guaranteed - whether the MG ZR is powered by the 1.4-litre K Series, L Series turbo diesel, 1.8-litre K Series in manual or Stepspeed transmission. The top performing model is the MG ZR160 with the verve of the 160Ps 1.8-litre K Series with Variable Valve Control that also powers the MGF Trophy 160 SE.
All MG ZR’s feature body coloured exterior items; side rubbing strips, door handles and mirrors, bumper inserts, tailgate lift, aerodynamic tailgate spoilers, front and rear bib spoilers. Black headlamp bezels and bright mesh main and lower grilles complete the distinctive appearance. MG ZR is tuned with a sporting chassis set-up for agile and responsive cornering dynamics. Rapid steering response, throttle adjustability and direct steering feedback are all key to the driver enjoyment of this "pocket-rocket". The MG ZR s also feature a low ride-height, sports rated front and rear springs and next-generation’ Delphi high technology dampers give a composed ride and handling balance. ABS is standard on 1.8 models, with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and available as an option on other MG ZR models. Large front 282mm and 260mm rear discs on the range-topping MG ZR160 gives an impressive stopping performance. MG ZR models have a sleeved single bright exhaust pipe, with the MG ZR 160 housing twin sleeved exhaust pipes within a stainless steel heatshield. MG ZR has form-hugging sports front seats and definitive MG interior style cues in trim, instrumentation and controls. MG ZR+ models feature enhancements over and above the already high standard of MG ZR equipment specification. Remote central door locking, electric front windows and door mirrors, electric sunroof, drivers seat height & lumbar adjustment, leather steering wheel, front fog lights and a leather and alloy gearknob make for an impressive specification.
The range-topping MG ZR 160 has more. Powered by the 160Ps K Series VVC engine and includes a close ratio gearbox, it has more standard features over the MG ZR+. Twin wide-bore exhaust tailpipes with heatshield, large brakes, 17" "Straights" sports alloy wheels with 205/45 R17 tyres and sculpted side sill finishers complete the exterior design. The MG ZR 160 also features air conditioning, a volumetric alarm and "Monaco" part leather sports seats, influenced by exterior body colour, to provide a sports experience interior. In 2003, an MG Express, version of the MG ZR was introduced - effectively a fast 2-seater van. In 2004, the MG ZR was facelifted with the rest of the MG Rover range. The front and rear design changes increased the differences between the MG ZR and Rover 25. The 2004 model also received a revised interior with new seat materials and a new dash design incorporating climate control on certain models.Other tweaks to the range include the MG ZR Trophy featuring a sunroof, 16 inch ’Grid-spoke’ alloys, new rear light clusters, leather steering wheel and side sill and rear bumper extensions. In 2004, MG Rover did announce plans for a new car to replace the MG ZR and its Rover twin, the 25. It was hoped that the new cars could be on sale before the end of 2006. But in April 2005, MG Rover’s proposed takeover by SAIC collapsed and the company went into receivership. MG Rover’s new owners Nanjing Automobile do not plan to make the MG ZR when Longbridge re-opens in early 2007, though there are plans for a replacement entry-level MG ZR car which is expected to go on sale in late 2008.
